REVIEW: Lust Have It – August 2013 Edition! [Celebration]

6 Sep

Hello hello!
So before I start, I did get this box sent to me.
I am NOT subscribed to LHI (that’s Lust Have It for anyone who couldn’t guess…), but these are all my honest opinions about the box – FO SHO.

Looking at the contents of this box, I’m definitely impressed by the products that were sent through.
In comparison to the June box that I also received from LHI, this is a much better edition – I’m glad they sent me this and showed me that June was most likely just a bit of a miss.

The theme this month is also ‘Celebration’, but judging by the items included in the box, there doesn’t seem to be a real connection…
Pretty random I reckon.

First things first – YAY for full size products!

This came in the box in its original 30ml form – the same as if you’d bought it from a store.
So that’s a giant plus for this edition.

Illuminators are great – they fit majority of skin types and can be used all year round. But since we’re heading into summer here in Australia, it’s definitely a great little plus to have!
On top of that, I personally love Revlon cosmetics. Especially the PhotoReady line, so that’s another tick in the right boxes for me.
But I must say, I did a bit of a swatch on the back of my hand, and I wasn’t overly impressed.

The product is a rosy pink – something you’d expect from the name “pink light”. It has visible silver glitter particles, rather than a pearlescent glow that help catch the light.

When applied, the texture is quite light – which is nice. And when indoors, you can barely see that it’s on your skin.
The moment you try and step outdoors though, you may… just feel like Edward Cullen.

I’m hoping that it could be a bit of a heavy swatch that’s caused all this reflection.
I’ll need to try it out a little more to see how it goes. But overall, it’s great to see a full-size product and Revlon at that.

Another Revlon sample has been thrown into the box. This time the newly released Revlon Nearly Naked Foundation!

This has been released for about a year in the States already, and our US sisters have been raving about this product whilst we turned green with envy.
But ever since it’s hit the shelves here down-under, I’ve been keen to try it out.
So it was a great surprise to find it in this box!

Another great move by Lust Have It: they included samples of 4 different shades (there are 12 available), so anyone who received the box will be able to either find their matching colour or mix a couple of the colours together to test out the foundation first.
Great work! Looking forward to try it.

KMS California Free Shape Shampoo and Conditioner

So it appears that something is missing.

The description card included in the box seems to suggest that both the KMS Shampoo and KMS Conditioner will be available in the box.
But. I only got a shampoo sample…

The actual product sounds pretty promising.
It’s supposed to prep your hair for styling and can help keep the style in place for longer.

It would be great to see whether this works. I’d be the ultimate test with my dead straight hair.
Not even perms keep it curly…

KMS California Free Shape Hot Flex Spray

KMS California Free Shape Hot Flex Spray

This also looks quite promising – a spray to protect and help keep styling in place whilst still letting hair stay flexible rather than crunchy.
Well that’s what the description is saying anyway.

Unlike the shampoo sample though, this actually looks like a decent size that’ll last a couple of uses to really test out the product.
The shampoo sample on the other hand looks like it’ll only last half a wash.
I don’t really like sachets…

Sinful Colors Nail Enamel

Oh! I’m definitely looking forward to this one!
I’ve heard quite positive feedback from fellow YouTube Gurus, and apparently (according to the description card) it’s long wearing and chip resistant – musts in nail enamel.

I’m quite rough with my nails though. Polishes can last only 2-3 days on my manicures.
So it’ll be good to see whether this is really that ‘long-wearing’ and ‘chip resistant’!

On top of that since it’s a lovely bright pink, I’m loving the colour.

Lush Gorgeous Cream

Besides the fact that I can’t open the sample packaging, I’m really excited about trying this product.
Not sure whether I can access it to try it though.

This cream comes in a little black tub, in Lush’s signature black containers and looks to last for 1-2 applications.

Lush is known for their fragrant and natural products. Even if it’s not the best day moisturiser, it’ll be great just based on smell; I’m sure!

La Roche Posay Thermal Spring Water

La Roche Posay Thermal Spring Water

Last but not least, Lust Have It has tossed in a couple of very VERY exciting products.

La Roche Posay has taken Australia by STORM!
Everyone is raving about their products right now and all the reviews I have come by are especially loving the Effaclar Duo – a light moisturiser for problem skin.

Even though LHI didn’t include this product in this month’s box, they have included a sample of the Eau Thermale – a thermal spring water that’s soothes sensitive skin and helps with anti-aging.
According to the pamphlet, you can use this as a refresher throughout the day or spray a little after your daily cleanser to tackle the beast of time!

Say what? I’m a little busy showering myself with this thermal mist at the moment.
This post will have to wait till I’m finished making my complexion baby smooth.

La Roche Posay Lipikar Baume AP

La Roche Posay Lipikar Baume AP

La Roche Posay Lipikar Baume AP

Okay maybe I haven’t reverted back to having my past toddler skin yet, but this second La Roche Posay product is too exciting to ignore.

This is supposed to be a lipid-replenishing body balm that offers “24 hours of anti-scratching efficacy”.
It’s used to treat eczema or super dry skin with shea butter to smooth the surface and provide comfort whilst Niacinamide relieves itchiness.

This would be great for the summer time when eczema flares up for me – usually in the areas where sweat accumulates; like the back of my knees or inside my elbows.
But for any ladies out there who have dry skin, not only on your face; this would be great to soothe the irritation.

Overall this month’s box was quite exciting!
There are quite a few items that I’d really love to try and hopefully you’ll see some reviews coming up, or mentions in my favourites! *fingers crossed*

Regarding value, I’m personally still not convinced that this edition or the subscription in general is worth $20.
Especially since there is a cheaper option on the market.

The Revlon PhotoReady Illuminator being a full-size, makes up for the price of the box already, But I find that inconsistency tends to be an issue with this subscription.

Based on the June edition, I would not have subscribed. Simple as that.
But this month’s box is steering my impressions in a good direction. I guess I’ll need to sit back and see if it’s worth the money after a couple more months.

If you are interested though, you can always just sign up to a 1-month subscription and use the coupon code “REAN” to get $5 off your first box.

You may like the box for yourself!

For now though, I bid my adieu!

Lovelove,

Rean.

REVIEW: Clinique All About Eyes

30 Oct

If you didn’t know already, Clinique is one of my favourite skincare brands. And after using this product, my love for all things Clinique has only grown!

20121030-070105.jpg

I initially got this in a gift pack when I had a massive duty-free Clinique haul on my way back from Thailand. Never thinking that I really needed any eye creams yet – as I’m still 22, I didn’t try it till recently.

I used it without paying too much attention. It was already in my drawers so it was better on my face than it was untouched. But as I was nearing the end of my jar and looking to find a replacement, I properly examined the skin under my eye for the first time since application. And WOW has it made such a big difference!

I used to have very large eye bags – ones that you could see a MILE away. They were puffy and obvious and to top things off, my dark circles wasn’t providing much help with obscurity.

It was not until I looked at my under eye area again, after using about the whole jar of Clinique All About Eyes, that I realised the puffiness was completely gone!

Yes it was GONE! No traces of my previously XL eye bags could be seen!
I thought I was seeing things – but I was only seeing the work that this product had done.

The circles themselves had reduced to a lighter shade. They haven’t disappeared completely so I’d say that All About Eyes is more for puffiness than anything else. But ladies if you’re looking to get rid of those embarrassing under eye baggage, then I definitely recommend you try this Clinique eye serum!

20121030-070231.jpg

Texture wise: it’s definitely not a cream. It looks like a gel and smooths onto the skin very nicely. There isn’t an oily finish but neither does it give that “refreshing feeling” that other eye creams and serums might provide. But it’s definitely light enough to wear even during the day under your foundation without interfering with how your base applies on your face.
Sometimes I find that certain skincare can cause foundation to concentrate in those areas making you look exceptionally blotchy – not the best look.
Clinique All About Eyes doesn’t do this though.

Verdict: definitely a great product to try if you’re having issues with under eye puffiness! I’m not too sure about the price as I only received this in the gift pack. But if its going to get rid of some baggage and self-consciousness, why not?

Definitely 7/10.
Would’ve given it more if it performed better with other under eye troubles.

Hoped this review helped! Let me know if you find any other eye creams/serums or if you have any other skincare and cosmetic products you recommend. I’d definitely give it a try and review it for you!

But for now…
