Lust Have It: October Edition

28 Oct

BAM BAM BAM!

Not sure why I started the blog like that, but I’m glad I grabbed your attention.
Another month is about to close off, which means I have another Lust Have It box to share!

Lust Have It October

Lust Have It October

First off, I am loving the new presentation of this box. The opening flap makes the box a little different to the Bellabox, and a change in packaging is always nice!

Le Tan Wash Off

Le Tan Wash Off in Bronze

Le Tan Wash Off in Bronze

Personally I don’t use fake tan. I’ve never felt the need to tan myself so I’ve never tried it. But this is a great deluxe size to try out and see whether you like the product.
Might need to find someone to gift it to though…

Inika Mineral Eyeshadow

Inika Mineral Eyeshadow

Inika Mineral Eyeshadow

Full size product alert! Love it when his happens.
Loving the colour this has come in – a shimmery emerald green that’s great for glamourous night looks.

Inika Mineral Eyeshadow Swatch

Inika Mineral Eyeshadow Swatch

Granted, this is a colour that’s a little out of my comfort zone – and I’m sure many of you are nodding your heads in agreement.
But let’s be honest here, who already has neutral eyeshadows? There we go. We all do. That’s why this is a great little taste of colour for anyone who’s too nervous to buy anything other than browns. Go Lush Have It!

Paula’s Choice Oil Blotting Papers

Paula's Choice Oil Blotting Papers

Paula’s Choice Oil Blotting Papers

I love my oil blotting papers. This oily T-Zone of mine has been the cause of one too many embarrassing photos, so any oil blotters are welcome in my collection.

I’m also really excited about these because of the brand – I’ve heard of Paula’s Choice for a while, but have never tried anything from her range. So this will be a nice introduction.

EVO Ritual Salvation Care Shampoo and Conditioner

EVO Ritual Salvation Shampoo and Conditioner

EVO Ritual Salvation Shampoo and Conditioner

This set sounds really good actually. According to the information card, it’s recommended for colour-treated, weak and brittle hair – which is great for me! My hair is in the most horribly dry and damaged condition, it’s ridiculous. Only problem is the giant backlog of shampoos and conditioners that are waiting to be used and washed down the drain.
So… I’m not sure when I’ll be getting to these.

Smitten Whipped Tinted Mousse Moisturiser

Smitten Whipped Mousse Foundation in Cappuccino

Smitten Whipped Mousse Foundation in Cappuccino

I LOVE FOUNDATIONS!
No idea what brand Smitten is. I’ve never heard of it. But gosh an I excited to try this one!
I’ll have to check the colour on this. See whether the Cappuccino shade fits my skin tone. But either way, I’m going to love trying this out!

Princess Skincare Hyaluronic Acid Mask

Princess Skincare Hyaluronic Acid Mask

Princess Skincare Hyaluronic Acid Mask

I’m always up for a good mask. This mask contains Hyaluronic Acid that helps with dehydrated skin and “reduces fine lines and wrinkles whilst maintaining elasticity”. Well we’ll see about that.
But masks are always welcome!

All in all, I’m pretty happy with the box this month. They’re definitely picking it up.
From first glance, it does look a little poor. But once you go through the products included, they really are good ones.
The tinted Moisturiser itself is a decent size and the shampoo and conditioner duo will last awhile. If you’re a self-tanner, the Le Tan wash would be a nice inclusion to your collection too.
$20 monthly subscription? I’d be happy about paying for it this month. They have had a few dud boxes in the past, so I’ll need to sit back and see whether they continue to hit the mark.
But if you’re looking to try it out, pop in the coupon code “REAN” at the checkout and till get $5 off your first month.

Enjoy!!

Lovelove,

Rean.

DISCLAIMER: Yes, I was sent his box by Lust Have It. But they did not ask me to review it, nor chuck in any good comments. So all the above is 110% my own opinion of this subscription.

TALK ABOUT: S8E12 – FINALE!

24 Sep

OMG. WE’RE HERE!

IT’S THE FINALE!

Who’s sitting in front of their TVs, with their eyes glued to the screen like me?!
Well, if you were… you wouldn’t have Googled ANTM and ended up here… right?

ANYWAY. On with the show!

So the finalists are:

Shanali

16, Victoria

Shanali

Shanali

Melissa

16, Victoria

Melissa

Melissa

Duckie

17, Victoria

Duckie

Duckie

To start off the show, ANTM brought back all the losers – I mean past contestants that were eliminated in order of their elimination.

With giant headpieces and dresses flowing for ages, they were the best accessory for Rudimental’s opening!

And might I just add that Jade is absolutely gorgeous!!
(There was definitely going to bit a plug of my favourite ones…)

Done with the eliminated, the final 3 walk on stage with ridiculous outfits – Duckie in gold, Shanali in white and Melissa in black. Hmmm who will take home the crown tonight?
Either way, I hope it looks better than the ones they’re wearing… they left the worst outfits to last.

Out walks Jen Hawkins in a gorgeous low cut royal blue dress.
Introducing the finalists (just in case we live under a rock and didn’t know who they are), she also introduced the judges of the show.

Judges of ANTM S8

Judges of ANTM S8

Anyone see Didier walk out on the runway? Rather than strut his stuff, he began waving his hands whilst wedging his elbows to his waist, looking like a duck all the way…
Worst entry every. And dude, get rid of the beard and horrible hair – hot factor just dropped dramatically.

Now who’s supporting who?

Alex Perry singled out Shanali.

Didier singled out Duckie.

And who else would Charlotte support? Melissa.

Seeing as they’ve all got one each, I assume they weren’t genuine acts of support.
I wonder who they really think will win?

How Far They’ve Come

With quick clips of how each have dealt with going back to school and “back to normal life”, Jen Hawkins brings the girls back out (of course with a wardrobe change) for a quick Q&A – pageant style.

Notable points – I LOVE Shanali’s dress!
The sunny yellow colour definitely compliments her skin tone.

Meanwhile, Melissa stands there with her arms crossed, legs a part; definitely not holding herself up properly as a model.

*Cut to the clip of their Harper’s Bazaar shoot*

Harper’s Bazaar Photo Shoot

A nice little reel of their Harper’s Bazaar photo shoot, Shanali and Duckie show their true potential with some behind-the-scenes footage and proved themselves with our little preview of the final images. But Melissa fell short of impressing me in her cover preview (because I’m so important and everything). I really hope she doesn’t win. The other girls are much better model quality than Melissa!

Following that lovely snippet, we have all 3 judges and all 3 finalists on stage for another quick Q&A.

Shanali impresses me with her answer of wanting to meet Karl Lagerfeld – head designer of power fashion house Chanel, before she “hits the mark” and knows she’s made of model-gold.

Melissa continues to be standoff-ish with her closed stature and smug expressions.
Not cool.

And Duckie disappointed me with her lack of forward-facing (literally – she was looking sideways) and awkward short answers to Didier’s questions!
Poor Duckie had to receive a helping hand from Didier who kept asking the crowd to cheer, in an attempt to help her cover up….

Up next is RICKI-LEE!

Her performance is accompanied by a catwalk by the eliminated contestants, all wearing 80s-hyper real-candy house pieces by Romance Is Born. Loving the line actually!
And a quick shout out to Ashley for looking like a goddess that fell from the heavens. That girl might be annoying, but DAMN, she’s got a great face!

Quick plug from by Jen Hawkins about RICKI-LEE’s new single on iTunes… we’re whipping into another quick reel of each finalist praising the others.

And before we head over to the first elimination, another quick tear-jerking reel is presented with one of each finalists’ parents sharing some words about their baby.

But without further ado…

FIRST ELIMINATION

And without any more hindrance, Jen Hawkins announces the first girl to go through to the final. With my heart beating a million times an hour, along with those on stage; the girl going through to the finals first is….

SHANALI!!!

That was expected though. But congratulations to her!

And now… between Melissa and Duckie, the next girl going through to the finals is….

MELISSA!

WOW that was definitely unexpected! Who would’ve though little Melissa was going through to the end???
But that means Duckie has been eliminated 😦 Poor thing. She definitely had so much potential. I hope she pursues her career with modelling!

DUCKIE – ELIMINATED

FIRST ELIMINATION: DUCKIE

FIRST ELIMINATION: DUCKIE

A great little fuse of models, Cirque du Soleil and Michael Jackson’s back track follows on stage for a TV first performance!

The girls really didn’t’ have much to do besides fill the background, but it was still great to have them be involved in the performance! Imagine that: “I performed on stage with Cirque du Soleil”. That’s sounds amazing enough.

Oh and of course out struts over-accessorised Melissa and Shanali in AMAZING DRESSES.

*insert shameless plug of Cirque du Soleil’s current tour…*

And now for the FINAL ELIMINATION!

FINAL ELIMINATION!

Again another quick reel of Shanali and Melissa’s journey throughout ANTM, we’re now onto the final elimination and announcements of the WINNER OF AUSTRALIA’S NEXT TOP MODEL!

*cue another wardrobe change* – whoa aren’t they tired of all the glitz and glamourous clothing?!
Suppose not.

Now… for the ultimate announcement that we’ve been waiting MONTHS for…

The winner of Australia’s Next Top Model is…..!

MELISSA!!!

WHAT? REALLY. WHOA. NO WAY.

I DID NOT EXPECT THAT!

WINNER: MELISSA

WINNER: MELISSA

Which means Shanali – the judge’s favourite and my bet, was eliminated from the competition.

I’m sure Shanali will already be receiving calls from designers and editors, wanting her to be working on their sets.

ELIMINATED: SHANALI

ELIMINATED: SHANALI

Well that’s all from me! Hope you enjoyed this series 🙂

Let me know if you have any other suggestions for future posts.

TALK ABOUT: ANTM S8E10

10 Sep

YAYER. Another week of top model – don’t I love this shit?

This week we start off with a lovely little Jen Mail hidden in the depths of the fridge (between the skim milk and cheese).
The girls need to man up you say? Why… what does that mean?

LESSON: How to man up…!

Rugby of course!

The girls head off for some drills on the football court. Getting down and dirty with some rugby. Along with some English eye candy, this is looking like a great start to the episode.

Anything interesting happen? Nothing much.
Just more reasons to dislike Abbie – who doesn’t know how to decipher between her lefts and rights!?

CHALLENGE: How to be a male model…?

Onto the challenge. Rocco the Drag King makes an appearance, along with a whole bunch of make up artists and Charlotte Dawson… who is quite artificial herself.

This is an exciting challenge! The girls need to try and act like a male model.
With androgyny being the hottest trend on the market, it’s no wonder why these girls need to try and be boys as well.

A prime example of androgyny at it’s best is our very own Australian Andrej Pejic!

Man? Woman? Man? WOMAN! Hello Andrej :)

Man? Woman? Man? WOMAN! Hello Andrej 🙂

The girls get to pick out their masculine outfits and choose their character. All whilst taking tips from Rocco to walk the walk and talk the talk.

Err, so with the transformations…. Duckie looks like the man. Really fit the brief, but whoa. This shit just got real with Duckie. She dressed up as a Melbournian construction worker. Nice one.

Dajana… LOVE THE ACTING.
Girlfriend, you are so on character, it’s hilarious!
I always knew you were wog, but you definitely brought that inner wog to life with a European business man working with “import and export”.

Dajana's Inspriation

Dajana’s Inspriation

Pretty much like our star of “The Wog Boy“. But with chains. And some intense facial hair.

Gotta love these challenges. This is most likely the most imaginative yet from the whole ANTM format – and trust me when I say this because I’ve seen them ALL. (Well all the ones in English and those that I can get my hands on anyway…)

After a little embarrassing role play of testing their manly skills in public, it’s revealed that a prize is up for grabs! Something along the lines of a tablet or small laptop with Windows 8 pre-loaded.
Sorry guys I was too busy drooling over Didier.

And to everyone’s surprise (not), DUCKIE WON!

Yeah that’s definitely a good choice. Seriously. There was way too much ‘man’ involved in her character.

Jade did mention something interesting though – “if I could push a button and have someone leave the competition…” [it’ll be Duckie].
Hmm… is this an indication of who’s leading the pack?
Duckie seems to be cruising along just fine and isn’t really failing in anything.

I wonder whether this is showing us a little insight into who’s in the final 3…?

PHOTO SHOOT: 90s Androgyny

I’m loving the idea of an androgynous shoot, but I’m not a fan of 90s fashion. In fact, I reckon you need to give it about 30 years before you revisit fashion trends. If you start tapping into relatively recent fashion, you just become out-dated.

Suits in the 90s - courtesy of N'SYNC

Suits in the 90s – courtesy of N’SYNC

It was all suits, ties and baggy pants this week, but none were too appealing.

Shanali: WHOA. 3 minute photo shoot. SAY WHAT? “Modelling Hall of Fame” (- Alex Perry). For sure girl! That’s crazy.
Even she thought the crew were joking…

Abbie: Again a good week! Hmmm maybe I under estimated her. She was blowing the photographer – Georges Anthoni, away. He was giggling himself giddy!
And her final photo? Amazing. Even I think so and I don’t like her. She looks like a man from afar, but the close up towards her face showed femininity and grace.

Jade/Dajana: you girls didn’t do too well this week at all. Didn’t fit the brief, wasn’t looking comfortable, looked like a model but didn’t model… you get the drift.

Melissa: “Already she’s model-worthy. Because she’s interesting.” – Georges Antoni. I hate it how Melissa has that advantage. But time and time again, her lack of range in her expression is noticed. And this week was not an exception.

Duckie: Hmm… considering on how she won the challenge, you’d think she’d do well. But nope. She did good, but not great. Girlfriend needed direction and wasn’t bringing “wow” to the lips of Alex and Georges Antoni.
Her final picture though was great. Bad hair? Yes. But that’s not her fault. That’s the hair stylist and brief’s fault. But the rest of here – whoa. I SO want to buy that suit.

And without a doubt, photo of the week goes to…

ABBIE!

Good on you girl! Seriously loved your picture this week and your attempt at the challenge was hilarious and convincing. Good choice judges.

And now for the bottom of the pack. Wait… what? Bottom 3?

NOOOOOO! DOUBLE ELIMINATION!

Shows that we’re nearing the end of the competition and the end of the show 😦

It’s now between Dajana, Duckie and Jade.
Who’s in and who’s out?

It’s a sad, sad day but the only one safe between the bottom 3 is Duckie.

That means, but my girls Dajana and Jade are OUT of the competition!

Eliminated: Dajana & Jade

Eliminated: Dajana & Jade

Too SAD 😦

Well it wasn’t going to last. They had good weeks and they had great weeks. But no matter how great they were one week, consistency was always and issue and it became their downfall.

Would’ve loved to see a westie hitting it through to the final 3 though.

Next week is the final 3 decider.
We have Duckie, Abbie, Melissa and Shanali still in the running. Who will JUST miss out on the fame and glory of final 3?
I say Melissa or Abbie.

Duckie and Shanali have had a solid run in the competition and hence should be able to secure a spot in the finals.

So lets wait till next week to see!

For now…

June 2013 Favourites!

15 Jul

HELLO WORLD!

Finally writing another post and it feels like a breath of fresh air!
I have a whole lot of stuff coming up, so stay tuned! Follow me on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and YouTube… if you would like to keep up to date with all my going-on-isms…

SO. Favourites. Favorites. However you spell it.
It’s late – yep I know. But better late than never!

LETS BEGIN!

FAVOURITES!

Johnson’s Daily Essentials Refreshing Facial Cleansing Wipes!

Johnson's Daily Essentials Refreshing Facial Cleansing Wipes

Johnson’s Daily Essentials Refreshing Facial Cleansing Wipes

There are some amazing facial wipes right here.

Not only are they affordable (drug store prices) and came in a handy pack of 3; as per the packaging, it really does remove waterproof eye makeup!

It takes off my long lasting foundation oh-so-well and is gentle and doesn’t make me break out.
On top of everything, it doesn’t tear and stretch like other cheaper brands.

The only thing that isn’t too great about these cleansing wipes is the oily residue that’s left behind on my skin after use. This is especially evident when I pull a wipe out of a freshly opened packet!
It’s definitely a little inconvenient when I use these wipes just before a work out session at my local gym. But after a little while, the extra moisture does dry and lessen on my face, so it doesn’t pose too big of a problem.

Australis 4-in-1 Conceal Corrector Palette

Australis 4-in-1 Conceal Corrector Palette

Australis 4-in-1 Conceal Corrector Palette

WOW. Now this has definitely been a favourite of mine throughout June, and will CONTINUE to be a favourite I’m pretty sure!

I have not seen a corrector palette like this before amongst any other drug store brands.
You can always find the occasional stand-alone corrector stick (in yellow or green etc), but I’ve never seen it come in a palette amongst more affordable brands!

I’ve only spotted something similar within Make Up Forever’s range, Ben Nye and Napoleon Perdis (though I’m pretty sure other companies out there produce these palettes). But all I’ve come across have been either quite expensive or hard to get my hands on considering I live on an island, surrounded by 3 oceans. i.e. Australia.

In particular, I am loving the lavender shade in this palette. When applying a thin layer underneath my eyes, my dark circles are immediately highlighted and concealed! And with some standard skin tone concealer straight over the top, my dark circles are the last of my worries throughout the day.

Australis Make Up Finishing Spritz

Australis Make-Up Finishing Spritz

Australis Make-Up Finishing Spritz

Behold, it’s another Australis product in my favourites!
They’re definitely killing it recently, aren’t they?

This is again another product that I have mainly seen amongst high end brands, so I was super surprised when I found this sitting in the Australis section of my local Priceline drug store.

Not only is it inexpensive and comes in a decent size bottle (150ml to be exact), it also WORKS!

Just a light layer of this spritz all over your foundation keeps it staying on for longer throughout the day, and reduces the “cakey” and “powdery” look of loose powder foundation.

Besides having to let you know that this spritz is more than half the price and 5 times the size of the famed Urban Decay De-Slick Oil-Control Make Up Setting Spray, there’s really nothing more I can say…

Sasatine Blotting Tissues

Blotting tissues to the rescue! Who needs them? Because I definitely do.

As a sufferer of excessive-oily-skin syndrome, I am a constant believer of blotting tissues.

I mostly find that cheaper alternatives are very bad quality, leaving oily residue on the hand you employed to put the blotting tissue into action…
And more expensive brands are really not worth it! (In no way can I justify spending $18 AUD on 75 Mary Kay blotting tissues – no matter how great they are!)

But. I have found. The ONE.

These blotting tissues are not only about $2 on sasa.com.au, they’ve got one plastic-like side and one tissue side, which ends up stopping any oils transferring onto your fingers after use!
They’re great 🙂

I approve.

Exfoliating Glove

Exfoliating Glove

Exfoliating Glove

Now if you don’t exfoliate your body already, you need to get on the bandwagon.

I just picked up these gloves from my local supermarket – it set me back about $4 AUD max, and use it about 2 times a week.

After ever use, my skin feels ridiculously soft and smooth and all the grime, dirt and… dead skin cells… are washed away, leaving me baby smoooooth!

Word of warning: try not to get too addicted and use these gloves too often.
They are exfoliating your skin at the end of the day, and this shouldn’t be happening too regularly otherwise your skin may start to get sensitive from excessive abrasion.
But team it with your favourite body wash a couple of times a week, and you will not stop touching yourself!… Your SKIN that is. In a completely non-sexual way…

*awkward*

Dermaveen Shampoo And Conditioner

Dermaveen Shampoo & Conditioner

Dermaveen Shampoo & Conditioner

For dry scalp and dandruff sufferers, please read on.

I have been experiencing an extremely dry and dandruff-filled scalp lately, causing me to run to different GPs crying for help.

After some prescribed shampoos and even recommendations to visit a scalp specialist, the only thing that’s worked for me is Dermaveen!

I was recommended this by a cousin of mine that was experiencing the same thing (to a lesser degree) and after picking up the bottles from my local Priceline, I have never had a dandruff problem since.

What used to be a low self-esteem and self-conscious Rean, is now a loud and proud individual who is unafraid of letting down her hair and shaking her head around like a wild woman!

This has definitely been the biggest help to my journey of scalp recovery, and I’m pretty sure it’ll be a favourite for awhile yet!

There is also a lovely almond scent that is refreshing against all the floral scents that you get from other hair care products.

This has definitely saved the day.

Manicare Cuticle Oil

Manicare Cuticle Oil

Manicare Cuticle Oil

I AM A BELIEVER! (Wow, aren’t I particularly passionate about my favourites this month???)

This product has gotten me through autumn (fall) and majority of winter, without painful dry skin appearing around my nail beds.

Have you seen The Black Swan?
Do you remember the scene where she was picking at the dry skin around her nail, started to pull it and…. okay lets just leave it at that.

Well I used to get the same dry skin around my nails when winter rolled around each year, causing the skin to peel and snag against clothes (knit especially) and bring tears to my eyes.
After applying this before any fresh mani though, my skin stayed moisturised and peel free!

There is no need for Black Swan moments. Just a (nut) cracker of a mani without the distractions of sore dry skin.

MISSES. (BOO!)

4ME Nail Polish Remover Pads

4me Nail Polish Remover Pads

4me Nail Polish Remover Pads

There is only one miss in the month of June for Miss Rean, and it’s the 4ME Nail Polish Remover Pads that I got in a Bellabox a few months ago.

Don’t get me wrong – this is a great concept!
Nail polish remover on the go, without the hassle of liquids, spillage, and a travel disaster waiting to happen.

The only problem is that it doesn’t work!

I’m not sure whether it’s the actual design of the product or whether it’s just this particular brand, but it takes about a MILLION YEARS to try and remove any nail polish residue with these remover pads.
If I’m going to have the risk of turning into the Wicked Witch of the West with these frustratingly incompetent remover pads, I may as well just stick out the horrible nail look and wait till I get home to take off what’s left with proper polish remover.

I better stop my rant now. I’m feeling myself turn green already.

Well that’s it for my June Favourites!

Thanks for reading, and if you guys are interested in more reviews, comments, rants or random things from me… then follow me on all the below!

Priceline HAUL! (40% Off Cosmetics)

26 May

Hi again guys!

So recently Priceline did a 40% off all cosmetics sale, causing me to plunge myself into the closest store and buy everything that was sitting on the shelves!
Okay that’s a little exaggerated. But I did end up getting quite a few items – most of which were things that I was previously eye-ing, waiting for the purrrr-fect opportunity to jump on to.

On top of that, I purchased over a certain amount of money, making my transaction eligible for a complimentary tote filled with $220 worth of goodies!
Hence why you’ll find a whole lot of products down below.

First off we have the products that I purchased with my own hard earned cash $$.

Australis Make Up Finishing Spritz

Australis Make Up Finishing Spritz

Australis Make Up Finishing Spritz

This was a surprise for me when I spotted it in the Australis shelves. I’ve been hearing so much about the Urban Decay De-Slick Spray and how it’s helped keep make up on those that have really oily skin.
I’ve been wanting to try it, but it hasn’t been a priority and breaking the bank for a finishing spritz doesn’t really ring the emergency bell.

So when I saw this sitting on the shelves I was instantly intrigued!

I can’t wait to try it – it’s supposed to set make up for all day wear so it’ll be perfect for lengthier days that don’t allow much time for touch ups and big occasions like weddings etc.

Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Anti-Chip Top Coat

Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Anti-Chip Top Coat

Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Anti-Chip Top Coat

I really needed a new nail top coat since I’m running out of my existing one. But I had to find something that was quick drying (considering my impatience once the job is done).

Sally Hansen is a company dedicated to nail polish. They produce a small range of other beauty products, but their polishes are priority.
So hopefully the quality of this Insta-Dri Anti-Chip Top Coat is great and really does set any nail colour in 30 seconds!

Sally Hansen Salon Manicure Smooth & Strong Base Coat

Sally Hansen Salon Manicure Smooth & Strong Base Coat

Sally Hansen Salon Manicure Smooth & Strong Base Coat

Again because I am running out of a base coat, I wanted to try something new and reliable that’ll keep my nails protected whilst testing other not-so-reliable nail polish brands.
With Sally Hansen being a dedicated polish company, I knew that picking a base coat of their range will be a good choice!

This particular one is supposed to fill any ridges and imperfections on the nail surface to create a smoother base before colour application.
AND it’s supposed to be keeping the nails strong whilst you torture it with lack of sunlight and artificial substances in polish form…

Therefore I just had to get it… 🙂

Sally Hansen Salon Manicure in 675 Mermaid’s Tale & L’Oreal Color Riche in 305 Dating Coral

Sally Hansen Salon Manicure in 675 Mermaid's Tale & L'Oreal Color Riche in 305 Dating Coral

Sally Hansen Salon Manicure in 675 Mermaid’s Tale & L’Oreal Color Riche in 305 Dating Coral

So I’m evidently in a nail polish phase right now – I picked up this really cute Sally Hansen glitter polish that’s a essentially a sheer royal blue with green and blue glitter particles.
The L’Oreal polish is also a sheer coral colour that’s really bright and fun.

A couple things to note: I’ve tried out these two polishes already and the brush for the Sally Hansen polish is amazing! It’s a flat brush with very controlled bristles so I perfectly coats the area which you want to cover (and not get everywhere). The L’Oreal brush on the other hand is less notable with a traditional round brush that makes it a little difficult to paint perfectly within the lines.
This L’Oreal brush in particular is not as good as other round brushes I’ve tried – the bristles flare out a lot more than others and the level of control you can have is relatively low. You’ll need to get that cue tip ready to clean up the mess you’ve left behind with this polish.

Rimmel Scandaleyes Waterproof Kohl in Nude

Rimmel Scandaleyes Waterproof Kohl in Nude

Rimmel Scandaleyes Waterproof Kohl in Nude

I don’t quite remember who suggested this – I follow too many beauty guru’s on YouTube. But I’m pretty sure this has become a cult product!

I’ve been suffering with a harsh white eyeliner for way too long. When trying to open up the eyes to make them look wider and more prominent (especially against dark eye make up), it’s great to place a light coloured liner in the waterline.
In the “old days” white liner would’ve sufficed. But heading to a new age of fresh beauty tips and tricks, it’s realised that white liner now creates a distinct harsh effect that makes on-lookers double take to see why your eye make up looks a little odd.

Nude liner though works a treat as it also opens up the eyes and creates contrast against dark eye make up, but is obviously less detectable as it’s… nude.

I’ve tested out this Rimmel Waterproof Kohl, just to see what the hype was all about.
It glides on well, applies like a charm and stays put in that moist eye area to continuously create magic!

Definite thumbs up for me. I’ve jumped on the bandwagon.

L’Oreal Telescopic Liquid Eyeliner in Black

L'Oreal Telescopic Liquid Eyeliner in Black

L’Oreal Telescopic Liquid Eyeliner in Black

I’m running out of a black eye liner so I thought I’d pick up something different that I haven’t tried yet.

The telescopic range has been raved about a lot lately – especially the mascara. It’s supposed to be great for lengthening but not suitable if you want volumised lashes.
Either way though, having not tried anything from the range before, I thought I might just give the liquid eyeliner a chance.

It’s usually pretty expensive, but with the 40% discount there was no chance for a second thought before I grabbed it off the shelf and tossed it in amongst the mountain of products already sitting in my carry basket.

Natio Brow Kit

Natio Brow Kit

Natio Brow Kit

Okay this definitely looks like a winner.
I have pretty thick eyebrows that don’t need much help getting by, so I’ve just been putting up with a brown eyeliner pencil with the help of a spare spoolie.

When I noticed this all-in-one kit though, I got so excited a glow started emanating from the product.

Not only does it come with two shades of brown eyebrow powder and a setting eyebrow gel, it’s accompanied by 3 travel size tools as well!
The powders for a first is not only great shades for my dark brown/black hair, the powder itself is a much better alternative to my harsh eyeliner pencil.

The clear eyebrow gel setter is also perfect for those special occasions were complete grooming is necessary.

And last but not excitingly least, the 3 travel sized tools: a spoolie, a dual ended small angle brush for both colours and a tiny set of tweezers. It just made my day.

This is a perfect little kit for those who are starting out and don’t have much to work with – and all within an afforable price range too!

The only thing I will note is the lack of colour range.
From what I could see, this was the only colour palette that was available, so it’ll definitely not be suitable for those who have fair blonde hair or red heads.
Other than that though… GO NATIO!

Australis 4-in-1 Conceal Corrector

Australis 4-in-1 Conceal Corrector

Australis 4-in-1 Conceal Corrector

Another great product from Australis!

This is a 4-in-1 conceal corrector palette that contains shades of green (for redness), purple (for dark circles and pigmentation) and two skin-tone colours (for general concealing).

I have only seen such palettes at Napoleon Perdis and Make Up Forever, but nothing amongst drugstore brands like Australis!
This is a second impressive product!

Maybelline Color Sensation in 515 Coral Crush

Maybelline Color Sensation in 515 Coral Crush

Maybelline Color Sensation in 515 Coral Crush

And last but not least, I purchased a new lipstick!

These Maybelline Color Sensation lip sticks aren’t particularly long lasting, but it’s moisturising and a little more sheer than other lip sticks making it more balm-like than other lipsticks.

This particular colour has been calling out to me since I tried out the range months ago! This beautiful coral red is perfect for any warmer toned make up look and outfits and it’ll perfectly fit amongst the red, orange or pink colour palettes! Definitely a great all-rounder lip colour.

FREEbies…!

Now on to the freebies that I received.
Because I spent $60 amongst various brands (including Rimmel and Sally Hansen), I was not only eligible for the 40% cosmetics discount, I also received a complimentary tote bag filled with goodies!

It was all packed into the leopard print bag below that is not only a great size, but has no branding located on the outside of the bag – which means it won’t look like a freebie! PERFECT!

Ecotools Loufa

Ecotools Loufa

Ecotools Loufa

The first thing out of the bag was this great big EcoTools Loufa.
It’s quite dense and soft in comparison to other loufas I’ve had in the past, so this is definitely a nice little addition to the collection.

EcoTools also holds a place in my heart – I’ve previously blogged about loving their blush brush. It’s environmentally friendly and soft and great to use.

Savvy Make Up Remover Wipes

Savvy Make Up Remover Wipes

Savvy Make Up Remover Wipes

Having cracked into this packet already… I can confirm that these aren’t the best remover wipes on the market.

They get the job done – don’t get me wrong. But when trying to take all this make up off, it’s best if the wipe doesn’t expand and rip into smaller pieces…

Manicare Cuticle Therapy Nourishing Polish

Manicure Cuticle Therapy Polish

Manicure Cuticle Therapy Polish

This sounds like a good product.
Not only do I have a good impression of Manicure products (since it’s been on the Australian market for as long as I can remember), it’s always good to take care of your cuticles so you can achieve the best looking manicure possible.

I’ve suffered from horrible cuticles that don’t team well with what I call my “man-hands”.
Only recently though did I start using cuticle oil (also from Manicare but not this particular product), and it’s improved the skin GREATLY!

They used to peel and look completely horrible even with a fresh coat of polish. But now – even without pushing them back, they look perfectly fine hanging out with my latest nail colour.

Nude by Nature Undercover Airbrush Mineral Primer

Nude By Nature Undercover Airbrush Mineral Primer

Nude By Nature Undercover Airbrush Mineral Primer

UM… So I know Nude by Nature is the bomb here in Australia. And plenty of people have raved about it non-stop.
But… *confession* I have never used anything from the brand before…

Okay now now! Don’t start moving that mouse to the ‘x’ button on your browser!
There’s no need for negativity just because I am still comparable to a new born baby with Nude by Nature products.
I’ve just never had the urge to step towards that section of Priceline and pick something up!

With saying that, I’m quite excited to try out this primer because I have the most ridiculously oily skin available to (wo)man-kind, and a primer will help me keep my face on throughout the day.

Only problem. I did do a little swatch when I dug through these goodies and noticed some sparkle in the product.
So lets just hope that this product doesn’t make me shine like the sun (or Edward Cullen) whilst sporting a nice slick gleam of oil over my face.

That’s the last thing I need.

Press & Go and Kiss False Nails

Press & Go and Kiss False Nails

Press & Go and Kiss False Nails

Okay… I’m all about a nice manicure, but I’m definitely steering clear from these. I don’t even know where they are any more!
They only lasted the time it took to take this photo before I tossed it into the back of one of my “never-go-there” drawers.

As I am completely professional though, I will tell you that there is adhesive included in these packs.

The Kiss Everlasting French has a small glue included in the packet whilst the Press & Go actually has a sticker surface on the underside of each acrylic nail, allowing you to simply “press & go”!

But enough said.

It’s still going to the dungeon and never seeing daylight again.

Australis Paparazzi Perfect Concealer

Australis Paparazzi Perfect Concealer

Australis Paparazzi Perfect Concealer

I hadn’t really heard much about the Australis Paparazzi range before getting all these products in this haul. So I’m not sure how I feel about having this.

But I guess, it’s something else to try. And if it turns out to be a good product than I would’ve found an affordable, drug store option! So… yes. Can’t wait to try it!

ModelsPrefer Brow Highlighter

Models Prefer Brow Highlighter

Models Prefer Brow Highlighter

This looks pretty nice. I currently only have eye shadows that I use as brow highlighters, so it’ll be good to see whether this pencil version compares against to what I have.

I must say though, this product comes up as a pearlescent glow – which is something I don’t normally like. And whilst swatching, it did drag a bit against my skin, so it’ll need some warming up before being applied to the delicate eye area.

But we’ll see how we go 🙂

Bourjois Volume Glamour Max Mascara in 51 Noir Black

Bourjois Volume Glamour Max in 51 Noir Black

Bourjois Volume Glamour Max in 51 Noir Black

OKAY. On to the exciting stuff! I cannot wait to try this!

I love Bourjois mascaras. They are SOOOOOO volumising, it’s CRAZY.
I have no idea why YouTube hasn’t hyped over these mascaras even more because it’s seriously waterproof, va-va-voom lash creators!

Just check that brush – it’s huge and full. I already know I’m going to flutter my lashes a little bit extra when I have this mascara on.

Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure Polish in 670 Midnight in NY

Sally Hansen in 670 Midnight in NY

Sally Hansen in 670 Midnight in NY

YAY! Another Sally Hansen polish! These are amazing!

The brushes are flat and so smooth during application. The quality of the polish itself is great.

I love the sparkles in this sheer black polish – it just glams up the usual plain black polish.

What more can I say? These are definitely great quality polishes with drug store prices.

Rimmel Wake Me Up Instant Radiance Shimmer Touch Illuminator in 001 Flush Of Pearl

Rimmel Wake Me Up Illuminator in 001 Flush of Pearl

Rimmel Wake Me Up Illuminator in 001 Flush of Pearl

Hmmmm….! I’m actually looking forward to trying this out!

This illuminator is from the Wake Me Up range, which holds a foundation that is now officially a cult product.

On the other hand though, this illuminator has glitter pigments in it – I’m not sure whether you can see it in my swatch, but it does give a sparkly glow.
And as someone who’s unfortunately sporting an oily skin type, sparkles is not always my first choice.

It will make my complexion more dewy and can therefore translate to super-mega-oily…

But you never know. That’s the rule of thumb, but it doesn’t apply to everything. There’s always exceptions.

Revlon Lip Butter in 085 Sugar Plum

Revlon Lip Butter in 085 Sugar Plum

Revlon Lip Butter in 085 Sugar Plum

Another lip butter! I already have a couple of colours from the range, and I’m loving the sheer wash of colours that this lip product gives.

With my super dry lips though, it does dry a bit against my lips and isn’t the best product when it comes to moisturising. But it’s definitely a great “lip tint” drug store option!

Natio Lip Colour in Flutter

Natio Lip Color in Flutter

Natio Lip Colour in Flutter

I LOVE lip products. I think I get most excited when shopping for these.

This colour looks like a nice deep red on the bullet, but after swatching, it’s more of a rusty red that might not suit everyone…

I might be reaching for it less, considering the brown undertones, but it’ll be great to add to the collection – I don’t normally buy lip products in this colour range!

Well that’s it guys!

Finally we have reached the end of the haul.

My GOSH that took awhile.

And I KNOW it’s been ages since I’ve blogged – I always have things that stop me when I’m on a roll!
But NO. That is no excuse. I will persevere and deliver consistently! … I hope.

For now though,

Lovelove.

REVIEW: Aveeno Positively Radiant Daily Moisturiser SPF15

24 Apr

Time for another review!

Next on the chopping block is Aveeno’s Positively Radiant Daily Moisturiser with SPF 15 (UVA/UVB sunscreen).
This was given to me in a pack of 3 – so I have plenty of product to try!

Aveeno Positively Radiant Daily Moisturiser with SPF 15

Aveeno Positively Radiant Daily Moisturiser with SPF 15

I heard about this before actually receiving the product, due to the claimed properties of evening out skin tone.
A friend of mine uses it religiously and has found nothing better than this to fight her hyper-pigmentation caused by the occasional blemish.

Looking for a more hydrating moisturiser than the Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturising Gel that I’ve been using lately, I thought I’d better give this one a shot!

At first, this moisturiser gave me pretty bad breakouts.
It was made worse by my monthlies arriving just in time to greet the effects of this new moisturiser, but the sudden change in products definitely brought blemishes to my skin.

Because of it’s thick creamy texture, I was a little wary when applying to a blemished face – I tried to smooth on the lightest layer and concentrate it ONLY IF there was a significant dry patch.
This seemed to help reduce flaring.

Once my skin started to accept this moisturiser though, I found that it’s not too bad of a product!

The consistency is thick and creamy – obviously much heavier than the Clinique Moisturising Gel that I used beforehand.
But this in turn provided hydration, which is what my skin lacked after I tried to only feed it gel moisturisers.

There is no scent, so that’s great for any sensitive noses out there.
And the moisturiser isn’t greasy or unpleasant to any degree. Just thick.

After using up about half the bottle, I’ve noticed that my hyper-pigmentation has reduced.
The spots are slightly lighter than they were before and my skin has smoothed out.

Lines and dullness has faded away from the lack of hydration, and one great thing to note: my skin isn’t producing as much oils throughout the day. So I’m saved from having a constant shine on my T-Zone.

With oily skin, I was worried that this moisturiser wouldn’t be right for me. But it’s in fact improved the balance of oils in my skin by providing that hydration I always starved it from – thinking it was the right thing to do for oily skin types.
I would suggests any other like-faced readers out there to try a lotion or cream moisturiser if they’re having the same problems. It definitely helped me from wasting a whole lot of blotting paper throughout the day.

In saying all these positive points though, I must admit that this moisturiser still didn’t provide the same level of results with evening my skin tone as the L’Oreal Paris Youth Code Lumiere Serum I reviewed a few months ago.
That product was definitely a holy grail. It evened out majority of my hyper-pigmentation in such a short amount of time, I was getting compliments on how great my skin was looking!

If you’re only having small amounts of pigmentation or uneven skin tone though, this is a great option.
It doubles as your daily moisturiser so you’re cutting out that extra step, and it’s quite affordable at your local Priceline or drugstore.

Overall, I’m giving it a 7/10.
It’s a pretty good moisturiser with the added benefit of evening skin tones. The bottle has a great pump that’s always handy, and a locking device inbuilt so any travelling won’t result in a layer of moisturiser at the bottom of your bag.

Give it a try ladies and gents. This might be what you’ve been looking for all this time.
My tip though is just to give it some time. It’s not quite the miracle that’ll give you results with the first couple of weeks of use.

Rean.

April 2013 BELLABOX

21 Apr

Hey guys!

Here’s the April Bellabox 🙂 (Sorry that it’s so close to the March Bellabox… Just wanted to post this whilst it’s relevant!).

See the opening of my Bellabox on Youtube!

This month’s theme is Innovative Beauty!

April Bellabox: Innovative Beauty

April Bellabox: Innovative Beauty

This month’s box is filled with things that I’m really excited about – a nice change to the last couple of month’s!

April Bellabox: Innovative Beauty

April Bellabox: Innovative Beauty

Cellilux Deep Sea Secret Glacial Mineral Gel

Cellilux Deep Sea Secret Glacial Mineral Gel

Cellilux Deep Sea Secret Glacial Mineral Gel

First off we have a product with the world’s longest name…!
This is essentially a face mask that’s supposed to draw out positively charged bacteria and impurities.

Positively charged… that’s new to me. I didn’t know there were positively or negatively charged particles!
Either way, I’m excited to try this simply because I’m looking for a good face mask. Hopefully this will help with my impurities and black heads!

Orofluido Hair Elixir

Orofluido Hair Elixir

Orofluido Hair Elixir

This elixir is apparently jam packed with argan, linseed and cyperus oil, giving your hair silkiness, lightness and shine! And apparently it’s supposed to work on any hair type in any condition.
This will be really good for my hair because I’ve been struggling with dry roots and a dry scalp.

I haven’t previously been too inclined towards using oils since I have oily hair and my skin is oily as well. But argan oil and all these other natural oils are the latest craze! It’s supposed to be really food for all skin and hair types and supposed to provide a nourishment. So… I’m EXCIIIITED!

Indio Multi-V Serum

Indio Multi-V Serum

Indio Multi-V Serum

This serum is supposed to be packed with vitamins A, H & F to keep skin healthy, beautiful and strong. That’s the marketing grab anyway.
I on the other hand I am entranced by the little blue, pink and white balls mixed in the serum! Not sure what they’re for, but it looks really pretty against the clear serum and silver packaging!

I’m also pretty excited about trying this since I just finished my Clinique Pore Minimiser and was looking for another serum to try.

Avene Micellar Lotion

Avene Micellar Lotion

Avene Micellar Lotion

Miracle lotion alert! This Avene Micellar Lotion is supposed to be a 3-1 product: removes make-up, cleanses and tones all at the time whilst not even requiring water to wash the product off!

I’m not sure about the whole “no need to wash after using this product” scheme.
Personally, if I’m trying to take off my make up at the end of the day, I’m thinking that I’d need more than a cotton pad soaked with a lotion. With the residue of the day and left over make-up that’s not mopped up by this lotion, I would normally prefer to give my face a good rinse afterwards.

I’ll give this a go, but I’m not quite the believer at the moment…

Rimmel BB Cream in Medium

Rimmel BB Cream in Medium

Rimmel BB Cream in Medium

With the increase of popularity with BB Creams in Asia, the western market is starting to bring out all sorts of versions of the BB Cream. Rimmel’s BB Cream has an SPF 25, containing 9 different skin properties to help smooth out the skin tone and impurities.

It doesn’t quite list what the 9 skin perfecting properties are, but this BB Cream is supposed to smooth, mattify, illuminate, brighten, minimise pores and protect with SPF.

It’ll be good to try this and compare it to the Asian BB Creams that I have tried, but I’m not sure about the colouring. It looks a little dark for my skin tone…

Lash Card

Lash Card

Lash Card

Now THIS is another product that I’m excited to try!
This has been on the market for awhile, but I haven’t gotten around to getting my hands on it.

Essentially it’s just a piece of cardboard that sits behind your upper or lower lashes to prevent the skin from being stained by the application of mascara.
This is great for anyone who has longer lashes or very curled lashes that might bend back and press onto the eye lid during mascara application.

I… do not have that problem. My lashes point STRAIGHT DOWN – it’s a miracle that eyelash curlers and waterproof mascara can hold onto any curl in my lashes.

I’m more excited to use this for my lower lashes though since when applying mascara, the product tends to get onto the skin beneath my eyes. The card has a small curve and large curve on both sides to fit either to top or bottom of your eye area.

The edges of the card can also help separate lashes and remove clumping from excess mascara!

It can also be a great shield of flaking mascara or any pigments dropping down to the cheek area when loose eye shadows are applied.

I’m evidently going to crack straight into these babies the moment I’m done blogging!

Eylure Naturalites Falsies

Eylure Naturalites

Eylure Naturalites

And last but not least, the April Bellabox had Eylure Naturalites falsies!
YAY! Yet another product that I’m super excited about!

These false lashes are great since they’ve got a nice natural look and volume – unlike some that are marketed as “natural” but looks more drag than anything else…

This set also comes with glue so it’ll be great for anyone that is just starting out on trying false lashes and haven’t got any materials to work with.

Just a note to those who are starting out with falsies: If you have dead set straight lashes like myself, you’ll want to give your lashes a good curl first before you apply any falsies. This will help your lashes curl similarly to the false ones and blend in a whole lot better 🙂

That’s it for the April Bellabox!
Let me know what you guys got and whether you’re happy with your Bellaboxes!

For now though…

Lovelove,

Rean.
